My Scaf/Hat

Handmade by Jeannie Phillips ~ Southside, AL
Robby and I went to Gatlinburg this past week for our 30th anniversary (October 4th).  We went to this gallery with all handmade items.... there was this wonderfully sweet lady there that has been knitting as a profession since 1979...on needles... she had the most beautiful hand made things... and inspired me so much to try things beyond the norm.... we talked forever!!... she had this most beautiful hat/scarf combination.... she used several kinds stitches on her scarf/hat....well I had, HAD to come home and make me one!!...in the process I have learned that there is basically 3 stitches...the e-wrap, knit and purl...and there is the yarn over...where you put one stitch over to the next peg...and there is knit together where you knit two stitches together... you get all different kinds of looks with how you combine these stitches.....Since this lady's scarf/hat has so many different stitches I wanted to try and get the same effect.... I am so excited about how this turned out.

On this Scarf/Hat I used the largest round loom...and to make the rim I used the knit and pearl stitch (I learned thses on You Tube)...I did 1 knit 2 pearl all around the loom...it works beautifully...it looks so little when you take it off the loom but it stretches as big as the loom...and it stretches beautifully... I still pulled it up through the middle and put the loose bottom over the pegs.

Thank you so so much for looking!!... Hugs Jeannie

I love this. I always pull out the KK for the cool weather, so I want to make on of these for my dd to wear to school - It will be a hit!
Where did you learn how to do the tapering for the end of the scat?

You aren't all that far from me - maybe I need to make a road trip for a tutorial. lol
